Casa Benedetto’s
What started out as a first-time experience to see the Night of Lights in St. Augustine, ended with what I would consider one of the best Italian Restaurant meals we have ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
With thousands and thousands of visitors in St Augustine the two days before Christmas, we knew we would have a hard time finding a restaurant that did not have over an hour and a half wait after our Trolley Tour. We are quite glad that this was the case that evening, because we found a restaurant that we never knew existed and it was a fantastic find. Casa Benedetto’s Ristorante at 165 Vilano Rd in St. Augustine, right off A1A was where we landed. It is only a couple miles from the historic district and right over the bridge near St Augustine Beach. (Note Casa Benedetto’s has since moved from its original location to 197 Blackford Way, Unit F

When we arrived, we loved the old style small house structure of the restaurant. We were quite hungry and were excited to try a new restaurant, especially an Italian restaurant, which is one of our favorites.
Unfortunately, when we walked in, we saw a sign inside that stated, Cash or Debit. Well…. since Janice and I hardly ever carry any cash, much less use a debit card, we were scrambling to make sure we could find enough money to order a couple of entrees.
Veal Picatta
The menu selection was excellent with a lot of variety, but I chose one of my favorites, Veal Piccata. It was one of the best Veal Piccata meals I have ever had. The veal was the perfect sized portion and the lemon butter sauce and nice large capers were to die for.
Janice chose the Eggplant Rollatini and was elated that it was so authentic and the flavors were just amazing.

After doing some quick calculating, we were able to scrape up enough cash to order homemade Tiramisu. OMG…. remarkable.

If you are ever visiting St. Augustine or live within an hour or so of this beautiful city, YOU MUST try Casa Benedetto’s. You will want to make a trip to this city just for dinner. They also accept Credit Cards now.
